THERE IS ONE BAPTISM

JMJ+OBT
Omnia Pro Iesu Per Mariam!

BAPTISM is derived from the Greek word, bapto, or baptizo, and it means to wash or to immerse. THERE IS ONE BAPTISM which is the Baptism of Jesus Christ, true God and true man, who went into the waters of the Jordan for us. Jesus did not need to be baptized because He is the One True God. Jesus went into the waters of the Jordan to fulfill all righteousness. Jesus went into the waters of the Jordan to sanctify the waters so that we could be baptized into Him. We need to be baptized into Jesus. We need to be immersed in Jesus.

Sacred Scripture states clearly that there is "one body and one Spirit, as you were also called to the one hope of your call; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all." (Ephesians 4:4-6). The one body is the Body of Christ which subsists in the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. The one Spirit is the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit is the soul of the Catholic Church. The one hope of your call is to live the Trinitarian life of God, received in the sacrament of baptism, for all eternity. The one Lord is Jesus Christ. The one faith is the Catholic faith, and all are invited to come to the fullness of the faith in the Catholic Church. The one baptism is in Jesus Christ so that we can live as children of the one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

DO YOU HEAR THE WORD OF GOD IN THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT? THERE IS ONE BAPTISM! Jesus was baptized so that we can live IN Him. IN Him we live and move and have our being. We are IMMERSED into Christ. We no longer live for ourselves. We live for Him Who died and rose for us. We have been baptized IN the ONE BAPTISM which is immersion IN JESUS CHRIST.

The primary point is that there is ONE BAPTISM and we are to be IMMERSED IN CHRIST so that we can bring about the ONENESS THAT THE FATHER DESIRES. WE ARE GIVEN THE PERSON OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN OUR BAPTISM TO BRING FORTH THIS ONENESS IN THE DIVINE POWER OF LOVE.

We are to live our baptism by living the life of Jesus gifted to us in baptism. Jesus' life is the Trinitarian life which is a life of Communion. Jesus' spirituality is a Trinitarian-Marian Spirituality. To learn how to live this life of Jesus continue to let God form you in the Lay Formation Program of Our Lady.
